2017-04-22 Internet Connectivity While On The Road Early in the project I had hoped to have internet connectivity while on the road. I looked into adding a module to The Comvette Project that would allow Comvette to connect to connect to the cell system. However, that required you to pay for a cell phone subscription for the module in the car. Essentially, your car would have it's own cell phone number. This was an expense I didn't want to take on since internet access would be infrequent. It turns out that my Nexus 6 cell phone has the ability to share it's internet connectivity by becoming a mobile hot-spot. So I set Comvette's Raspberry Pi to attach to my cell phone and voila! I have internet connectivity whenever I am in the car with my cell phone. Sometimes these electronic gadgets amaze me. |
